Many of you might scroll through and never take the time to learn who Rob Milne was. But this Celebration of Life is more than just a tribute. It’s a reflection of the incredible journey of his life. To you, he might seem like an ordinary guy, your everyday Joe. However, you would be mistaken. As our favourite quote from Doctor Who says, “In 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important.” And Rob was no exception.
To us, one of the best ways to commemorate a soul is by throwing a celebration of life. A unique event inspired by the most incredible being, where all leads come together—highlighting the great work and connections a person made—gathered in one room, reflecting on how much one single life has impacted others. In this case, that individual is our dear Rob Milne.
Who Was Rob Milne?
We are not going to lie—Rob started his life on the wrong foot, struggling with addiction, which led to homelessness.
Then, almost suddenly, he received a wake-up call—an epiphany that made him turn his life around 180 degrees, shifting his focus to family and health. The road was hard, but he was more than determined to recover and to give back to the ones who stood by him.
With his dedication to becoming the best version of himself, Rob managed to live a lifestyle he had never imagined. Going vegan and spending as much time outdoors were not the sole reasons for his success in becoming an entrepreneur and philanthropist. As a matter of fact, he was actively involved in recovery communities, where he had vowed to help those who were on the wrong path become their better selves. That is the kind of presence he had.
How Did We Honour Rob’s Life?
In short, The Celebration of Life for Rob Milne was more than a memorial. It was a portal into Rob’s life—the people he knew, the values he had, and the impact he left. Anyone who attended would agree that every corner of the venue reminded them of Rob Milne. By incorporating elements inspired by the way he lived his life, like having a vegan menu, a cycling-powered smoothie station, and so many personal items, like customized flower boxes featuring photos of Rob with family, colleagues, and charities. And of course, everything was blue as it was his favorite color and green to reflect his love for nature.
We also had a charity table that contained flyers, case studies, and photos showcasing how he contributed—to keep spreading his message.
As well, one of our favourite things we did was to have memory boxes so that people could leave a written message of their favourite moment of Rob.
And we had a tombstone made, where guests had the ability to enter their vote on what slogan to put on Rob’s tombstone—just so everyone is on one note.
What a beautiful way to acknowledge a life.
