Bringing Miami to your Next Event! The guests of honor would have loved to celebrate their engagement in Miami. That wasn’t possible. Bringing a taste of South Beach to the Pacific Northwest however, was no problem…
Entering the centre’s gymnasium, guests discovered a room transformed. Gone was any hint of the usual function of this space. In its place – a palatial South Beach, Miami style club. On their left, a gorgeous white bar with a modern backdrop of white sheers and gobos with Mendhi designs. Near the middle of the room, artfully arranged conversation pits. Across the north side of the room, floor to ceiling windows framing a spectacular view of downtown Vancouver. The adjoining walls were covered with tall pipe and white sheer drape and lit from below with a purple wash, to enhance the sophisticated feel. Outside, lounge furniture on the terrace, surrounded with stylish Plexiglas columns lit a purple LED enhanced the South Beach theme and provided a beautiful spot to enjoy the warm spring evening.
The décor had three main themes. Purple and white were the featured colours and square shapes were featured throughout with square-shaped dinnerware, vases, and columns adding style and sophistication. The guest tables were square, seating 8 people, on white Chiavari chairs. Table dressings featured floor length purple pin tuck linens and as a centrepiece, clear glass vases filled with water and orchids; a smaller version of the exquisite floral arrangements that welcomed the guests. The main table centerpiece was completed by four other clear square vases of different heights filled with clear pearls and floating orchids. On each table there were four candles that gave the centrepiece a warm glow and set a romantic ambience for this celebration of the couple’s love for one another.
To mark the occasion, each guest had their photo taken with the couple and their family by a professional photographer. The best part was that they each took home a souvenir photo of their South Beach experience in a gorgeous, silver frame.
Cuisine for the evening featured servers circulating with appetizers, a banquet-style feast of Indian delicacies ranging from savoury butter chicken to traditional sweets such as Jalebi and the event’s signature drink – the Purple Spring Margarita. With vodka, triple sec and a secret ingredient to make it match the evening’s colour scheme, each drink was served in glowing purple Martini Glasses, which also functioned as a giveaway item for the guests.
As night descended, attention turned to the outdoor plaza on the waterfront side of the venue. Here a fire-spinner worked her magic, juggling, eating fire, spinning poi and creating fiery art against a stunning backdrop of city skyline and distant mountains. Inside, the basketball backboard was draped with white sheer drape and hung with a custom neon sign with the couple’s names aglow. It proved to be the perfect way to deal with the problem and the groom-to-be was delighted by this customized touch. They were thrilled that they were able to keep it as a souvenir.
The key markers of success in any event are happy guests and satisfied clients. As the pictures of the Purple Spring Celebration make clear, this sophisticated evening to commemorate a turning point in two people’s lives was an unqualified success. Combining a spectacular location, great entertainment, tasteful décor and cuisine, and doing it all within a challenging time constraint, we delivered on the décor wish to bring a slice of South Beach to the West Coast, with this truly memorable event.
