January: We produced a highly customized ‘Road Trip’ event, taking guests on a virtual journey to 4 four countries. Each country was represented with a unique colour, currency, dessert item, activity, entertainment, gas pump, and road sign. Guests were given road maps to direct them around the event and they could buy a dessert or caricaturist’s drawing of themselves with the play money, and enjoyed a lot of other country-specific activities and entertainment!
February: This was a very exciting month. Bright Ideas was nominated for Best Event Produced for a Corporation in the Canadian Event Star Awards for the event Christmas Around the World! Guests experienced elements of traditional seasonal celebrations in Russia, Cuba, Italy, and Canada. Each country had a typical food, activity, and entertainment to represent that locale. Highly detailed décor gave each room an authentic feel. Read more here.
March: Another winning month for Bright Ideas! We won a Readers’ Choice Award for Favorite Event Planner in Canada!!! We also worked with a long-time client as their ambassador for an online voting system at the annual Vancouver Auto Show. Bright Ideas hosts were on hand to invite guests to submit their choices for their favorite vehicles in different categories.
April: More accolades for Bright ideas, winning the Best Event Planner in Vancouver category in the Top Choice Awards! Another first for Bright Ideas coordinating and leading tours through a plant which decaffeinates coffee without the use of chemicals, for a guest list of international VIP clients.
May: We launched a new image and concept sharing strategy – with themed boards on Pinterest. Now, social media users everywhere could easily check out beautiful images from our events! With only 57 followers in the beginning, we are thrilled to have passed the 1,000 mark. And we have only uploaded a fraction of our event images!
June: We filled our summer days producing several fun events for a long-time client. These events saw Bright Ideas all over the Tri-City area, assisting a local merchant in thanking its dedicated customers during community client appreciation days, complete with children’s activities and parades.
July: This was another big month for Bright Ideas, with a Global Nomination and a quarter century celebration. We marked our 25th anniversary with a digital book, an online page-turner offering a chapter for each of our 25 years producing spectacular events, along tips and insights into how we did it! Bright Ideas was also nominated for Best Corporate Event under $75K USD in the ISES ESPRIT Awards for our Christmas Around the World event.
August: A couple eloping, a reception-style gathering to celebrate their nuptials, less than 50 invitees coming from all over the globe – all converging in Vancouver. What a perfect opportunity to showcase the rich and beautiful traditions of the Coast Salish people, with a traditional carver, guided tours of the Museum of Anthropology, and even a bonfire!
September: Bright Ideas kicked off September by producing a week long conference for attendees from around British Columbia at a downtown Vancouver hotel. Evenings were filled with activities such as a private sushi-making class, walking tours of Gastown, an elegant dinner at the Vancouver Art Gallery with a performance by a fabulous local singer, and a closing dinner at the breath-taking Seasons in the Park restaurant featuring magnificent views of Queen Elizabeth Park in full bloom! Mid-September saw Bright Ideas producing a Grand Opening in a chic, downtown restaurant, where we debuted two new suppliers: a speed-painter who created a masterpiece in only 4 hours and a mentalist who astonished with mind tricks while mingling with the guests.
October: This month was almost a mirror image of September, beginning the month with a week long managers’ retreat and closing it with an evening of client appreciation. We went to BC’s beautiful Interior and after organizing meetings, filled each afternoon with local tourist activities including golf and wine tasting, evenings with Grand Openings, dinners, and receptions. Bright Ideas closed out October with a casual yet upscale gathering of VIPs at another chic, downtown restaurant – complete with valet parking and beautiful artistic flower arrangements.
November: Let the Annual Staff Christmas parties begin! This month we held back-to-back events, both for hundreds of guests. The first was a stylish James Bond-inspired Diamonds Are Forever theme event, to celebrate the client company’s 60 years in operation. The event was complete with James Bond-themed prizes, Bond Girls, and diamonds scattered absolutely everywhere! The second event was an Icicle Dream evening full of excellent food and beverage, a band that kept the crowd dancing all night, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Frost posing for pictures and keeping things cool!
December: Once again, one month is a mirror image of the last – back-to-back events to celebrate Christmas. An exciting 1920s Great Gatsby-inspired evening kicked everything off, with hundreds of guests trying their hand at some great Casino games to win prizes sponsored by their employer. The gorgeous décor featured luxurious damask patterns and feathers, and everyone danced the night away with a famous local DJ. Bright Ideas closed out 2014 and our Christmas season producing a 12th Annual Kid’s Christmas party complete with balloons, fun food, face painting, and a Santa who filled us all with Christmas spirit and made everyone believe in the magic of the season!
